The “Black Mamba” wings tasted as good as how they described it. Their description of this flavor in their menu was: “best seller, award-winner / bitter sweet mole cocoa undertone”. Yes to all of that. The meat was tender, the skin had the right crispiness and the taste of the glaze was as described. Chicken and cocoa go really well if done right. And, they did it right. The dip we chose was honey mustard because we love mustard.
We went to the restaurant late but we were at least 45min from closing time. Unfortunately, we felt that the servers did not want us to eat there based on how they looked at us and their demeanor when they were talking to us. They did not change their manner of service throughout our time there. We really felt that they wanted us to leave ASAP.
Why didn’t we just look for another restaurant? We were very hungry at that time and didn’t have the energy to go somewhere else. At least the food was good.
Tucked within a university area, the restaurant clearly strives to appeal to students – from the decor, tables to the utensils. The place needed some cleaning up when we were there and the arrangement of their tables was not optimal for people to move around comfortably.
The Value for Money
Half-pounder wings was P160 (5 to 6 pcs), one flavor, while one pounder wings was P310 (10-12 pcs) with 2 flavors and a dip. The rating here is mostly for the taste of the wings as compared with its pricing at the time we ate here.
Pro Tip: There seems to be a huge jump in their prices as a half-pounder wings apparently now costs P199 (almost a 25% increase from when we ate there just 6 months ago).#happyfoodtrippers
