What we ate:

Healedsburg’s Harvest, Linguine Al Nero, Batac Bolognese, 28 Day Dry Aged USDA Prime Grade Bone-in Ribeye Steak and Roast Pork & Chicken

 

Taste = 4.5/5

–          If I were to be asked what I liked most about Mamou, it would be the Linguine Al Nero. The description from the menu read “Linuguine, squid ink sauce, served al dente.” It was pretty bold of them to write that but it was exactly like that. The squid ink sauce and the pasta were just marvelous. I would describe the dish as the best adobong pusit sauce with small cubes of squid meat tossed-in with the most al dente linguine I’ve tasted. Sadly, that was true only for the first order we made, we ordered another serving but the pasta was too undercooked. The second serving was like eating the good sauce with crunchy noodles. I’m willing to overlook this very serious mistake because the first serving was really really good. The salad (Healedburg’s Harvest) was an interesting play on cranberries, veggies and pecans and was good overall. The Steak was a little tough on the edges but had a really good taste on it. It tasted like good beef infused with good butter and felt like that too in the middle. The Batac Bolognese was good as well but I wasn’t able to notice the Ilocos sausages but the dish itself tasted good. The Roast Pork and Chicken dish had a faint but distinct citrusy taste on the meat. The best part about the dish was that it wasn’t dry at all unlike most roasted meat.

 

Service = 4.5/5

–          We experienced good service and the waiters paid attention to our requests very well. We requested for the second Linguine to be re-cooked and they obliged without hesitation.

 

Ambience = 4.5/5

–          We were initially seated on the al fresco area but were allowed to transfer inside since there was a cancellation. The seats in the indoor dining area were a little too cramped together while on the al fresco area, you had to contend with a warmer atmosphere. The dining area looked good and very inviting to customers who wanted to dine and chat.

 

Value for money =3.5/5

–          Around Serendra, one would expect the prices of menu items to be relatively high. However, Mamou took their dishes up a notch in terms of prices. I would have to disagree with them since they do not cook dishes in a consistent manner and they destroyed the second Linguine dish that we ordered on the same day. But the first Linguine dish was immaculate.

    Wow what a meaty meal! very good for carnivores, like me. I’ve always wanted to eat linguine al nero, but still haven’t gotten a chance yet. I have to make an effort….I have this cookery book with a nice picture, that I admire all the time. What a pity that they don’t have consistency yet charge clients high prices. I would skip this one for sure!

      We really found it very disappointing when they were not consistent with the quality on the same night and only minutes apart. Too bad really. Hope you get to eat linguine al nero! We know you can make one extremely well. 🙂
